RESPONSIBILITY

RESPONSIBILITY

At our core, we're a brand driven by our community. Our choices and actions are guided by the voices of our community members. We pay close attention to what they love, actively listen to their feedback, and observe what they share with us. All of this valuable input guides our vision and process, ensuring that we prioritise what's best for our community.

Open dialogue with our community and genuine connection are the essence of what makes us who we are. Together with the fiercely supportive community at our core, we want to redefine streetwear for a new generation. Our designs embrace the spirit of rebellion, not as an act of defiance, but as a declaration of freedom - and everyone is invited to fly the flag. NAMED world is a universe created for everybody who wants to join, where binary labels aren’t required. Creating an inclusive and welcoming environment is a fundamental part of our mission.

We are aware of the opportunity created by having a platform that can be used to elevate & amplify the voices of others. We regularly use our platform to share movements and causes and it is important to us that we give back where we can. We also have a Black Lives Matter resources page available where our community can easily find important educational resources , petitions and funds to donate to promise HERE.

In 2022 we started the NAMED4GOOD project, which is a project designed solely with the ambition of working with our community to have a positive impact. By creating limited edition pieces with a greater purpose and donating all proceeds (not just profits) to charitable causes, we have managed to work with our community to raise £30,000 for great causes.. and that’s only the story so far! There’s so much we can make happen with this exciting project, and this is really just the beginning. Some of the amazing charities we’ve been able to support so far include: Mind, Teenage Cancer Trust, AKT charity, Race Equality Foundation, Freedom4girls, Papyrus, St Mungo’s, Hackney Foodbank, The Pad Project, Stop Hate UK and more.

At NAMED COLLECTIVE, we believe that responsibility is an integral part of who we are. All of our clothing is made in limited runs and small batches, ensuring that no excess stock ever finds its way into landfills. Unlike mass production, our approach is community-driven, focusing on creating pieces that resonate with our community for the long term.

Our design philosophy is anti-trend. While we can’t promise we don’t sometimes accidentally create trends (there's something about being a small, independent brand that larger corporations can't resist), we definitely don’t chase them.

Our mission is to work together with our trusted suppliers to produce investment-worthy items, spending months on each capsule collection meticulously considering design, form, and function. We encourage our community to care for their pieces properly too, thereby extending their lifespan and reducing their environmental impact.

After 2 years of working hard with our partners to develop and implement a more mindfully made fabric that still delivers the same high quality, durable, soft feel that our community know and love, we are excited that all of our new tracksuit designs are now crafted out of GOTS certified organic and recycled materials. This marks a significant step in our journey to integrate sustainable practices into our garment-making process.

We're actively working with our manufacturing partners to move towards using solely organic cottons and recycled composition fabrics throughout every piece we produce. Beyond this, we have built strong, long-standing relationships with the small number of selected factories that we work with and hope that we can continue to grow together as we continue to see demand and love for our garments, ensuring both stable jobs and a sustainable income for those that we partner with. The selective factories we partner with are independently audited and certified to meet globally recognised social and environmental standards.

When it comes to packaging, all of our orders are packaged in eco-friendly 100% compostable and biodegradable packaging. This includes both our garment bags and mail bags. Our garment bags are made out of compostable cornstarch rather than plastic and can be discarded with your veggies (green waste) to decompose naturally. Our mail bags are fully biodegradable and designed to degrade after they have served their use, leaving no harmful residue behind.

There is always room for improvement and we are constantly working to explore further ways in which we can make responsible choices while ensuring our garments remain accessible to as many people as possible - which our community can continue to support and enjoy. We are on a continual journey, committed to evolving as a brand that is mindful of its impact, in partnership with our community and partners.

The people are what make NAMED COLLECTIVE. From the internal team, to the community that so fiercely supports us - people are everything.

We take great pride in being recognized as an accredited Living Wage Employer, a testament to our dedication to fair compensation and employee well-being, certified by the Living Wage Foundation.

As a brand disrupting the norm within streetwear - a world historically centred around men, with women often overlooked, NAMED creates clothes for everybody who feels great in them - girlies, that definitely includes you! We celebrate women every single day, and we are proud to have 78% female representation within our team.

When it comes to offering equal opportunities, we're all in. We believe in a level playing field for everyone, whether it's hiring, training, promotions, or just simply enjoying the studio environment, it’s all important. We know that every person is unique, with their own perspectives, backgrounds, and lifestyles. That's why we make sure no one gets treated unfairly because of their age, disability, gender identity, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity, race, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation. We're here to break down those barriers.

It’s the uniqueness and diversity of each member of our team and community that makes us so powerful. We're all about respecting each other's differences and working together to create a workplace where everyone feels valued and included.
